New signings galore at Thornbury

Thornbury Castle Band has welcomed a number of new signings to the ranks.

 

Thornbury Castle Band has announced that they have strengthened their ranks by the signing of a batch of new players:

New players

Cornets Ellie Camm and Trevor Heynes, baritone players Ian Walshaw and Sue Walshaw, trombonist Samuel Gilbert, Eb tuba James Heath and percussionist Cathryn Barnes have all joined up in recent weeks.

These players have brought a fresh sound to the band and we are all working hard through the summer to integrate them so that we do well in forthcoming contests and concertsMD, Geraint Barnes

MD Geraint Barnes told 4BR: "These players have brought a fresh sound to the band and we are all working hard through the summer to integrate them so that we do well in forthcoming contests and concerts."

Quality

He added: "We are pleased to add quality players including Ellie and Ian who have both played with the Gloucester Youth Band in the recent 2010 Youth Contest together with the more experienced players. We hope they will all blend in for what I believe is an exciting future."

All the players will make their contest debut at the Festival of Brass in Wychavon on September 19th.
