Yorkshire's Oughtibridge Band has announced the immediate appointment of Gavin Somerset as their new musical director.

Due to MD Alan Coe moving away from the area, the band contacted Gavin and asked if he would be willing to accept the position in time for the busy Christmas period. Oughtibridge has acknowledged the hard work and thanked Alan for all he has done during his time with the band.

Experience

With several years experience playing at the top level of banding and as a well-respected musical arranger and composer in this field, Gavin was happy to accept the post with immediate effect.

Following his departure from Deepcar Brass Band in July, Gavin has enjoyed a break from conducting and has recently rejoined the City of Sheffield Brass Band on percussion.
