Govan given Corry inspired retreat

Jonathan Corry leads a brass band retreat with Govan Citadel Band, making sure they march on full stomachs.

Corry

Govan Citadel Band was recently delighted to welcome Captain Alistair Mann and Bandmaster Jonathan Corry from Enfield Citadel as their leaders at last weekend’s special ‘Band Retreat’

Service leader

Held at the Scottish Police College it ran from Friday evening to Sunday morning with Govan Band then leading the Sunday services at Govan Corps.

Bandmaster Corry led rehearsals which included work on Dean Goffin’s prelude and fugue 'Arise, My Soul, Arise', and Edward Gregson’s 'Variations on Laudate Dominum'. Perhaps the most engaging number of the weekend proved to be Michael Kenyon’s arrangement of Alistair Taylor’s song 'I Need Thee', which produced a breathtaking performance on Sunday morning.

In addition to musical and devotional inputs, the band also engaged in marching practice as well as team games and copious amounts of food!4BR

Govan Band took the opportunity to thank Jonathan and Alistair for taking time to join them in sharing the event.
