East Yorkshire Motor Services Band has been dishing out its annual awards.

Three East Yorkshire Motor Services band players received special recognition at their recent 2010 awards night.

Multi tasking

The prestigious ‘Player of the Year’ award was won by Kirsty Fox, who stepped up from her regular position as repiano to take over as principal cornet, whilst the ‘President’s Award’ went to trombonist Mark Unsworth, for his amazing contribution to the band – one which gave the phrase multi-tasking a new meaning.

Tongue in cheek

Meanwhile, MD Alan Morrison decided the ‘Most Improved Player’ award should go to 2nd euphonium player Sam Ringrose, who joined the band earlier in the year and some of the band’s more tongue-in-cheek awards were also revealed too – much to the amusement of all those enjoying a great evening.

Busy

The awards night rounded off a busy Christmas period for the band which will enjoy a quick Christmas break before preparing for their appearance at the Butlin’s Mineworkers Championship in Skegness.
