Fountain set for Drachten

Leading American band Fountain City set to make transatlantic contest appearance in Holland.

The organizers of the 2011 Euro Brass contest in Drachten in the Netherlands have informed 4BR that they are delighted by the interest shown in participating in the contest this year by bands from abroad.

Europe and the States

The 10th running of the event will take on the weekend of the 3rd June at the De Lawei concert hall in Drachten, with bands from Belgium, Germany, England and the Netherlands already registered.

Formidable

For the first time in the event’s history a band from the USA will compete, as the formidable Fountain City Brass will try to add the Euro Brass title to their impressive CV.

Thomas Doss

The Championship Section bands will perform a test piece from the pen of one of the most popular brass band composers of the moment, with 'Fanfare in Jubilo' by Thomas Doss as the set work on the Friday, with their 25 minute entertainment programmes the following day.

In the B and C Sections the bands will perform a single 30-minute programme to include their set works.

B Group: Glory Fanfare — Otto M. Schwarz
C Group: Salute to a Hero — Philip Sparke
