The first update of 2011 sees considerable movement in the World of Brass — 4barsrest.com Rankings, although Cory managed to consolidate its position as number one following its victory in the Welsh Regional Championships.

Top 10 Bands 1 Cory 2 Foden's 3 Black Dyke 4 Fairey (Geneva) 5 Brighouse and Rastrick 6 Grimethorpe Colliery 7 Tredegar 8 Rothwell Temperance 9 Leyland 10 Carlton Main Frickley Colliery

Other winners in this year’s ‘Area’ contests also fare well, with Brighouse and Rastrick moving closer to the top, while Fodens, Reg Vardy, Virtuosi GUS, Exchange Communications Whitburn, Redbridge and Woodfalls all set themselves up nicely for possibilities of more points later in the year.

The highest new entry is Lochgelly, following its outstanding third place at the Scottish Championships, while other high fliers include Hepworth, Beaumaris, Zone One, Krohnengen and Ila Brass, the latter two of which performed brilliantly at the Norwegian Championships, which were won by Eikanger-Bjørsvik.

The other contests taking place since the last update were:

Butlins Mineworkers — won by Flowers
Yeovil Entertainment Contest — won by Woodfalls
Brass at the Guild — won by Pemberton Old Wigan DW
