Writer, poet and performer Ian McMillan joins Frank Renton to talk about 'Brass' — his recent collaboration with Black Dyke telling the story of a banding family with music by Philp Wilby.

His love of brass bands stems right back to childhood days in Barnsley and he talks about the place music making has in his life and the role that he sees banding fulfilling on today’s music scene.

For the 120th anniversary of the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army, Frank Renton talks to current Bandmaster Stephen Cobb and conductors and musicians from around the world performing in a celebratory concert at The Royal Albert Hall.
