More high profile signings at Grimethorpe.

Grimewthorpe

Grimethorpe Colliery Band has announced that as well as signing James Fountain as their new principal cornet, the Brass in Concert champion has added three more signings to their ranks.

Trio of signings

Chris Mansfield joins on solo trombone, Mark Smedley on second cornet and Owen Wallage on Bb tuba.

Musical Director Brian Grant told 4BR: "I’m delighted to have these players on board. I have worked with Chris in the past and he is a fantastic talent with a great future ahead of him."

We are looking forward to a long and successful association with all three playersGrimethorpe Colliery Band

Experience

Press Officer Gareth Crane added: "Mark joins us from Hepworth where he played soprano for 9 years. He has made the transition from soprano to cornet brilliantly and his ability and experience fits perfectly into what is already a strong section."

Looking forward

He added: "Owen Wallage joins after a brief spell with Staffordshire having also played with the National Youth Brass Band as principal tuba. We are looking forward to a long and successful association with all three players."
