2012 Area works announced

The test pieces for the 2012 Regional Championships have been announced by the Kapitol Music Panel.

The Kapitol Music Panel, which decides on the choice of set works for the Regional Championships and National Finals, has formally released their list of selections for the 2012 Regional competitions.

Opportunity

4BR was informed that the decision has been made ahead of this weekend’s Finals in Cheltenham to ensure all bands have the opportunity to find out more about the works that will be testing them in the eight Area contests early next year.

Stern but fair

Music Panel Secretary Alan Hope told 4BR that the panel believes that they have provided bands with stern, but very fair tests in all sections.

"There are some wonderful choices once again," Alan said. "We are sure that the mix gives the bands and their conductors plenty to work on, with pieces that are testing but fair. We are also pleased that the panel has been able to provide the opportunity of picking a work by the late Goff Richards as a tribute to his immense contribution to the brass band movement."

November 4 • We are a busy and very friendly 2nd section band with 5 current vacancies - FRONT ROW CORNET – BACK ROW CORNET- EUPHONIUM - Bb BASS - PERCUSSION. We rehearse on Tuesdays & Thursdays near our lovely home town, just a short drive from M5, J14.
