Bilton ready for new home

Bilton Silver (Rugby) Band is already thinking ahead — and to a brand new bandroom in 2012...

Bilton

The Bilton Silver (Rugby) Band is starting to get ready to move into their new bandroom early next year.

Construction

Construction will follow demolition of the current 50-year-old bandroom in early November, the culmination of ten years of planning and fundraising.

Providing vastly improved facilities, the new build will raise the band’s ‘green’ credentials in line with modern standards whilst lowering their carbon footprint, and providing an excellent venue for community use.

Funding

Funding for the work, which will cost in the region of £300,000, is coming from several sources, including private donations, funds raised by the band at events, Rugby Borough Council and three organisations that award grants through the Landfill Communities Fund – The Veolia Environmental Trust, WREN and Biffaward.

To start 2012 with new and more suitable facilities marks the beginning of a new era in the band’s 118 year historyChairman, Greg Little

Fantastic

Greg Little, Chairman of the band told 4BR: "To perform at the National Finals in Cheltenham, and to be building a new bandroom in the same year, is simply fantastic.

We are all extremely proud of what has been achieved. To start 2012 with new and more suitable facilities marks the beginning of a new era in the band’s 118 year history and we are delighted that the wider community will also be able to share these benefits."
