Leicestershire Music Hub, which provides extensive support for a wide variety of musical services in its region, is set to host a free Brass Day this weekend with the acclaimed performer and educator Murray Grieg.

It takes place on Sunday 13th September starting at 10.00am (ending at 3.00pm) at Leicester Haymarket Theatre, 1 Garrick Walk, Leicester (LE1 3AF) and offers a free day of music making for young brass players of all ages and abilities.

Free opportunity

Murray is the hugely respected Head of Wind, Brass & Percussion at the Royal Northern College of Music, as well as being a former Principal Trumpet with Opera North. He is also a widely acclaimed educator and conductor.

The day offers a fantastic free opportunity to work with him as well as gain invaluable performance tips and ask questions about his musical journey and professional career.

Lots to do

The day will see brass workshops, sectional and ensemble coaching with differentiated groups to suit all ability levels, as well as a special Q&A session before the day is rounded off with a massed ensemble performance for parents and families at 2:30pm.

This free event is open to young brass players of all ages and abilities from beginners through to those playing at post-Grade 8 and looking to pursue a musical career.

Junior players should be playing at approximately Grade 1 standard and be able to read basic music notation. Participants will be placed into groups according to their experience and playing level, ensuring everyone is appropriately challenged and supported.
