Youthful recall in Cornwall

A labour of love has seen a local historian recall all the former members of the Cornwall Youth Band.

Former Band member, local historian and Cornish Bard, Tony Mansell, has just completed the major task of recording all the members of the Cornwall Youth Brass Band since it began holding Residential Courses in 1959.

1000 plus

By trawling through innumerable concert programmes Tony has listed well over 1000 young players who have enjoyed the friendship of their fellow musicians and the benefits of working with the many of the banding movement’s top conductors and performers.

The task was made all the more remarkable as a number of course concert programmes were missing, and Tony is looking to complete his collection of possible by adding the years, 1960, 1966 and 1975, as well as Christmas 1990 and 1992 and Easter 1994 and 1995 to his archive.

More info needed

Tony would be pleased to hear from anyone who can give him further information. He can be contacted by E Mail at tony.mansell369@btinternet.com or telephone 01872 552098. In the meantime the List is available for study on the Cornwall Youth Brass Band Web site at: www.cybb.co.uk
