Top triple for Double champions

Brighouse & Rastrick announce trio of signings for 2012.

Double Yorkshire and National Champion Brighouse & Rastrick, has announced three key January signings.

Solo horn

Leah Williams joins on solo horn from Carlton Main Frickley Colliery.

Originally from South Wales, Leah studied music at Salford University and was previously solo horn at Ynyshir Welfare, Tylorstown and Tredegar before her appointment at Carlton Main in 2007.

Leah told 4BR: "Although I am extremely excited about the move, I would like to thank everybody involved with Carlton Main for giving me the opportunity to play with such a wonderful, hardworking set of people. I wish Phillip McCann, the band and everybody associated with Frickley all the very best for the future."

Tromboine and horn

Meanwhile, Danny Brookes will be joining on solo trombone from Leyland. Danny, who holds a Masters Degree in music performance, has previously played with YBS, Sellers and Todmorden Old.

Completing the trio is Andy Moore who joins on first horn, also from Leyland.

Talking to 4BR the new signings added that they were looking forward to the new contesting year. Danny added, “The band are a fantastic bunch of people and the opportunity to work with them and Dave King was too good to turn down.”

June 17 • Our COMMUNITY BAND meet again on Monday (22nd) and we welcome players of all standards to join us for a relaxed,friendly rehearsal with Tea and cake and it’s all free.. Rehearsals are at 11am in our own bandroom playing with us does not effect your band.
