Ipswich secures double champions

One of the leading charity concert promoters celebrates a double champion coup for 2012.

One of the leading charity concert promoters has announced that they have secured a ‘Double Champion’ booking for 2012.

Brass in Concert/British Open

The Ipswich Charity Concert Committee has announced that Brass in Concert Champions, Leyland will appear at the local Corn Exchange Theatre in March, whilst reigning British Open Champion, Cory will take to the stage in June.

Committee secretary, Tim Mutum told 4BR: "We are delighted to be welcoming the reigning Brass in Concert and British Open Champions to Ipswich again. We are also very grateful for continued financial support from Ipswich Borough Council for these concerts."

Over the years, bands have helped raise over £70,000 for such schemes as the Digestive Disorders Foundation, the Ipswich Umbrella Trust and Headway Ipswich and East Suffolk4BR

Charitable causes

He added: "For the 22nd successive year the East of England Co-operative Society will be the principal sponsor of our summer concert."

Over the years, bands have helped raise over £70,000 for such schemes as the Digestive Disorders Foundation, the Ipswich Umbrella Trust and Headway Ipswich and East Suffolk.

Last year’s concerts, featuring Foden’s, Grimethorpe and the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army raised £5,900 for charity.

May 7 • B Flat Bass : fresh off the back of our promotion to the Grand Shield, ELB are on the look out for a bflat bass player to complement our existing section. The band is ambitious and has an exciting second half of the year ahead.
