The Wakefield Metropolitan Band has announced that Michael Howley has agreed to direct the band at the forthcoming Yorkshire Regional Contest in Bradford.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "The band are very excited about this appointment and are working very hard to ensure that we put a performance in of merit. 2012 is going to be a busy year on the contest and concert stage and we are very happy to have someone of Mike’s calibre to take us to St Georges Hall."

New principal

4BR was informed that the position of full time MD will be made in the very near future, whilst the band also announced that Alison Ingram has become their new principal cornet and that they have also signed new players including Matt Bell and Lee Ammersley.”
