Childs set to lead Children's Band

The National Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain has released details of its ninth annual residential course which will take place at Repton School in Derby from 23rd – 28th July.

The band is open to talented brass and percussion players aged 8 to 14 and this year will be led by Dr Robert Childs, with guest soloist, Paul Duffy, star soprano player of Black Dyke.

Joining Paul as course tutors will be John Doyle, Owen Farr, Gary Curtin, Brett Baker, Mathew Routley and Alun Horgan.

Philip Biggs, NCBBGB administrator Philip Biggs told 4BR: "We are very excited about the forthcoming course. Now in its ninth year, the band has a stellar line-up of course tutors and for the first time ever, will have Robert Childs as Course Director."

He added: "With the National Youth Brass Band now in its 60th year, I’m delighted that the Children’s Band will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2013."
