The City of Chester Band recently bade farewell to Sonja Banz who had joined the band earlier this year whilst honing her English language skills in the city.

Thanks

Sonja who hails from Lucerne, and usually plays in Brassband Kirchenmusik Flühli has returned to Switzerland to study with a view to entering the teaching profession.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We all thank Sonja for helping us out on rehearsals and engagements and wishes her well for the future."

Financial servant

Meanwhile, the organisation has also bid farewell to a fine committee servant, as after 25 years Doug Dalzell stepped down as Band Treasurer, although the 81 year old will still play tuba in the band.

The spokesperson added: "Throughout his tenure the band’s finances have been kept solvent, with prudence being Doug’s watchword!"
