Lancashire Contests has announced that the popular Fleetwood Open Brass Band Championships will take place later this year.

Over 60 years old

The contest, which is now over 60 years old, is to be held on Sunday 7th October at Marine Hall, The Esplanade, Fleetwood

The hard work and dedication of a hard working organisational team has meant that despite the withdrawal of financial assistance, the trustees of Lancashire Contests have decided to continue its support of the event.

Rich history

A spokesperson told 4BR: "There is such a rich history to this contest that we are determined to see it continue and flourish. It is so important for banding in the North West that a contest such as this is well supported and we would ask that as many bands as possible take the opportunity to support it."

The contest will consist of five sections: Championship & First, Second, Third and Fourth, where national gradings are to apply, plus a Youth Section.
