Australia forms National Youth Band

New National Youth Band spearheads three year plan for National Australia Brass.

4BR has been informed that National Australia Brass has announced the formation of Australia’s first National Youth Brass Band.

With a banding acronym NAYBB, National Australia Youth Brass Band, will form an integral part of the National Australia Brass three-year plan reaching fruition in 2015 with the ANZAC centenary ‘National Australia Brass Festival’ celebrations.

NAB administrator, Peter Younghusband commented to 4BR: "As Australia’s first National Youth Brass Band, NAYBB represents a major part of the ongoing educational program for youth which has developed significantly since the formation of NAB by its Artistic Director, Professor David King in 2008 and under the patronage of Adrienne, Lady Stewart."

He added: "The first National Australia Youth Brass Band course is being planned for 2013 and in conjunction with the 6th National Australia Brass Festival – NABfest."

Membership

Membership of the National Australia Youth Brass Band (NAYBB) will be by application and subsequent audition. (Age category is 14 to 23).
