Following another successful academic year for the Greater Gwent Youth Band, it has been announced that Richard Evans will lead them on their appearance at the National Festival of Music for Youth on Friday 6thJuly in Birmingham.

Alun F Williams told 4BR: "We are delighted that Richard Evans will be able to conduct the band at the National Festival especially as it follows on from his very successful time with them last year."

The band will perform ‘The Essence of Time’ by Peter Graham at Birmingham.

The band is one of twenty one groups organised by the Gwent Music Support Service which have been invited to the National Festival from Monday 2nd to Saturday 7th July.

Alun added: "This is a fantastic achievement for one Music Service, whilst it is even more pleasing to note that 13 members of the band have been successful in gaining a place with the National Youth Brass Band of Wales Summer Course."
