Who's the copper?

The only clues we can give is that he isn’t a real copper, and that he is better known as a leading top flight player, conductor and adjudicator.

He also shares the same name with a former England centre forward who used to play for Sheffield Wednesday and once held the record for the fastest recorded shot, hitting the bar at 114 mph against Arsenal at Highbury in September 1996.
