Bare Trees take lead for Sponsor's Award

The players of Bare Trees Community Band did without a conductor to claim a sponsor's award at the Music for Youth Festival in Birmingham.

Bare Trees Community Band recently took part in the Music for Youth National Festival at Birmingham Town Hall and came away with a ‘Sponsor’s Award’ in the Open Section of the Brass Band category.

8th award

It is the band's 8th award in the past 10 years, and made even more special on this occasion as MD, John Collins, sat in the audience and watched his band, with players aged 8 to 21, perform the whole programme without a conductor.

Soloists

Featured soloists included young stars Toni Heywood on flugel, Jenny Brown on cornet, horn player Lee Renton, Catherine Cordwell on baritone and Harrison Heeley on euphonium.
