Good as Goold for Betteshanger

John Goold has been appointed the new MD at the Betteshanger Band.

Betteshanger Colliery Welfare Band has announced the appointment of the vastly experienced John Goold LRAM MISM as their new MD. John will continue to conduct Cantium Brass.

Marine Graduate

A former graduate of the Royal Marines School of Music in Deal, he was principal horn with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, as well as becoming Horn Instructor (RMSM) whilst studying under Charles Gregory, Principal Horn of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Return

The appointment sees a return to Betteshanger for John, as also directed the band at Championship level, including the National Finals in 1978.

He has held the position of MD of Cantium Brass for over 23 years, although the band do not currently compete in contests,

he is renowned for his drive, enthusiasm and talentBetteshanger Band

Drive

Band spokesperson Rosie Cullen told 4BR: "Over the years, John has been in demand as a conductor with many of the London & S.E. region top section bands, including Staines and more locally, the KM Medway Band where he is renowned for his drive, enthusiasm and talent."
