Welsh Miners increase contest work force

The Miners Welfare Entertainment Contest gains extra bands in Porthcawl.

Organisers of the popular Miners Welfare Entertainment Contest in Porthcawl have revealed that the event has once again managed to attract a highly competitive field of contenders.

Success

The contest will be held at the Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl on September 15th. Last year’s inaugural event proved to be an overwhelming success, attracting a large audience to enjoy the entertainment on offer.

4BR will once again be covering the event live on the day.

This year, 12 bands will take part – included 4 new entrants. The line up includes, Abertillery, Ammanford, Blaenavon Town, Briton Ferry, City of Cardiff (Melingriffith) 2, Ebbw Valley,
Gwaun Cae Gurwen, Mid Rhondda, Oakdale, RAF St Athan Vol, TATA Steel (Port Talbot) and Ynyshir.

Contest details

The contest starts at midday with the first of the 2 draws at 11.00am, the second at 2.00pm. The adjudicator is David Read MBE
