Young euph star Harry Heeley is set to enjoy life as a student in and around Cardiff.

Oldham (Lees) Band will be say goodbye to one of its young star performers in a few weeks time, as solo euphonium player Harry Heeley is leaving to study at the Royal Welsh College of Music in Cardiff.

Band Spokesman James Brooks told 4BR: "Although everyone at Oldham Band (Lees) will be sad to see Harry go, we all wish him every success at university and we're sure we will see him in Oldham Band colours again."

Harry added in response: "I've thoroughly enjoyed my 8 years at the band and I would like to thank John Collins for everything he's done for me personally and as a euphonium player. Growing up together as has is what banding is all about and I'm excited to see where they will be when I finish my degree."

James added: "An exciting new replacement for Harry will be announced in the near future."
