High on a hill

A new band is aiming for the top to raise funds — literally.

The newly formed Telford Jubilee Band has decided on a novel way to raise funds to help provide young players with the chance of carrying on their playing after they leave schools in their area.

Wrekin

Later this month they will be holding a 45 minute concert on the peak of their local hill, ‘The Wrekin’, after carrying their instruments to the top.

First performance

The band’s MD, Craig Foskett told 4BR: “We are extremely pleased with the progress that had been made with the band since our formation earlier this year."

we are grateful to the owner of the hill as he was more than pleased to grant permission for the band to hold what is believed to be the first musical performance ever staged at the top of the famous local hillMD

Idea

He added: "This event was one of those ideas which at first seemed very quirky, and we are grateful to the owner of the hill as he was more than pleased to grant permission for the band to hold what is believed to be the first musical performance ever staged at the top of the famous local hill.”
