Fodens spread the love

British Open champions to play integral part in new music hub provision for children in region.

Directors at launch

Foden’s trombonist John Barber and percussionist Chris Bastock have been appointed as directors of The Love Music Trust, the new Music Hub for Cheshire East.

Access

Funded by Arts Council England, the Love Music Trust, together with four specialist arts colleges and partner organisations including the Halle Orchestra, the RNCM, Manchester Metropolitan University and Northern Chamber Orchestra, is hoping to build a coherent musical landscape to support children at all musical levels and access points.

Important time

Speaking at the launch, John Barber told 4BR: "This is an important time for music in education. Following the government’s Henley Report, it’s our duty to ensure that all children are given high quality, affordable tuition and the best opportunities for progression."

Remarkable

He added: "Part of our remit is to develop exciting partnerships with organisations and people who are passionate about music and capable of really inspiring young people. Already the building blocks are in place and together we expect to make some remarkable progress over the next three years."

At the launch, held at Sandbach School, UK jazz singing star and Radio 2 presenter Clare Teal performed with the highly acclaimed Sandbach School Big Band led by John.
