Spooky twin tubas for City of Bristol

A slightly spooky twist of coincidence has happily led to two new tuba players coming to City of Bristol Band — from California.

The City of Bristol Band has reported to 4BR that that brass banding is certainly a worldwide community after an advertisement through 4BR for tuba players brought not one, but two replies from California to join the band!

Not one but two

A spokesperson said: "Most bands are happy to receive an enquiry, especially from a bass player but to get two in a week must be pretty exceptional – especially as both come from the West coast of America!"

They added: "The timing couldn’t be better as it fills the B flat bass vacancy and solves a short term problem on E flat bass."

In addition to the good fortune there was something of a spooky twist of coincidence too, as the band are currently rehearsing Bruce Broughton’s ‘California Legend’ for the forthcoming own choice contests at Ross-on-Wye and Loughborough.
