4BR has been informed that the highly successful 6 year musical partnership between MD Dave Dobson and Launceston Town Band has come to an end.

Victory

He leaves after leading the band to victory in the Fourth Section at the SWBBA Torquay Contest and after taking the band to the National Finals in Cheltenham.

Great experience

Dave told 4BR: "It’s been a great experience. The band has been built slowly over time to regain promotion into the Third Section, culminating in a series of successful contest results in recent times including qualifying for this year’s National Finals."

Under his tenure the band has also performed many successful concerts, notably in Truro Cathedral for the BBC Radio Cornwall Christmas Celebration. 2012 also saw the recording of the band’s first CD entitled ‘Spirit of Lanson’, using the title of his son Simon’s specially composed march.

Dave leaves behind a strong young band for his successor as he moves to pastures new, and we would like to thank him for the enjoyment and success he brought to usLaunceston Town Band
