No cards for Fairlop

A very busy Fairlop Band has raised funds for some great causes thanks to their fair old hard work over the festive season.

Fairlop Band

Fairlop Brass was one of many bands throughout the country that enjoyed a busy, but rewarding build up to the Christmas break.

Host of events

The senior band undertook three high profile concerts whilst various ensembles performed at a host of events – from pubs to churches to raise much needed funds.

The organisation has been a previous winner of a Community Champions award, and this year they supported events that raised nearly £1,500 for good local causes.

No cards

They even went without Christmas cards too – raising close to £350 for Maggie’s Cancer Support Charity in memory of former baritone player Holly Miller, who was only in her mid twenties when she died from cancer just over a year ago.

I am not sure that we can manage such a hectic programme next year, but the diary for next December is already starting to fill up!MD, Kevin Jordan

Fantastic effort

Musical Director Kevin Jordan told 4BR: "It was a fantastic effort by the band to fulfil so many engagements when there is a considerable call on everyone’s time.

Whilst it was busy and tiring a great deal of planning had gone into each event, and we had excellent feedback from both concert organisers and the audiences."

He added: "I am not sure that we can manage such a hectic programme next year, but the diary for next December is already starting to fill up!"
