Bands set for SKY 1

A new SKY 1 documentary following the action at the 2012 Yorkshire Area Championship is to be aired later this month.

Yorkshire Area

A new television programme inspired by the battle for National Final qualification success at the 2012 Yorkshire Regional Championship is to be aired on Thursday 25th July on SKY 1 at 10.00pm.

Nationals bid

Made by Crocodile Media, the production team followed a number of Yorkshire bands in their bid to get to Cheltenham and London – including Horbury Victoria, City of Bradford and Grimethorpe Colliery bands.

Dedicated

Called ‘Brassed Off’ it is one of six documentary programmes that form part of SKY One’s series entitled ‘Great Little Britons’, with the aim, ‘...to shine a light on some of the nation’s most dedicated perfectionists’.

Obsession

According to the programme — ‘More than sixty bands travel to Bradford for the annual Yorkshire Brass Band Championships and this film examines the obsession for four very different bands for whom performing is a way of life.

Charting both the road to the competition as well as the final contest itself, tensions run high as the musicians know one wrong note could blow their chances.”
