Blush brilliance raises a grand response

£1,000 is raised for Breakthrough Breast Cancer thanks to the blushing ladies of Verwood Concert Brass.

Verwood Concert Brass

The female players of Verwood Concert Brass recently formed a special ‘all girls’ band entitled, ‘Blushing Brass’ to help raise funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Inspired

Jan Tiller, the driving force behind the initiative told 4BR: "I was inspired by the brilliant fund raising activity of ‘Boobs & Brass’ and thought we have more than enough ladies in Verwood Concert Brass to do something similar."

Support

Helped by tremendous support from the band and sponsors, the idea became reality with ‘Blushing Brass’ recently holding its first charity concert.

Jan added: "I have never organised anything like this before so I really did not know how it was going to go, so you can imagine that I was thrilled to be able to present a cheque for £1,000 to Breakthrough Breast Cancer as a result of our efforts.

What’s more we had such great fun in achieving it.”

Delighted

Jean Murray who accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity added:

"Breakthrough Breast Cancer is delighted to have gained the support of the ‘Blushing Brass’ ladies.

This money will allow us to continue fighting breast cancer by finding the cause of breast cancer, improving detection, diagnosis, treatment and services."
