Vernon Building Society Poynton Band has announced that following his recent visit to their band hall, composer Darrol Barry has agreed to become their new Composer in Residence.

Second home

Although Darrol actually lives and works a few thousand miles away in Oman, the band is delighted that he has accepted the ‘second home’ role.

Arranger

Meanwhile the band has also appointed assistant principal cornet player Adrian Horn as their new Arranger in Residence.

Adrian is a former recipient of the James Watson Brass Prize from the London College of Music, and is currently a music technology teacher at Chethams School of Music.

I’m so pleased to be able to welcome Darrol and Adrian in their respective rolesMD, Neil Samuel

Pleased

Commenting on the appointments, MD Neil Samuel told 4BR: "I’m so pleased to be able to welcome Darrol and Adrian in their respective roles. They are both fantastic musicians and I’m very grateful that they have both chosen to work with the band on future compositions!"

Also joining Poynton in time for the forthcoming Fleetwood contest is trombonist Lauren Marie White, who joins from Wingates. Lauren is a former student at Birmingham Conservatoire.
