National champions set for domestic battles

National champions Tylorstown, Goodwick and Ebbw Valley are amongst the bands taking part in the second leg of the Welsh League Championship in Burry Port next month.

Welsh banding will have an ideal opportunity to celebrate its recent successes at the National Finals in Cheltenham when the second round of the 2013 Welsh League Championship takes place in Burry Port on Saturday 5th October.

Encouraging field

The event takes place at Burry Port Memorial Hall with an encouraging field of 29 bands in the five senior, junior and youth sections.

The contest will start at 10.00am and the adjudicators will be Tom Davoren and John Doyle. Highly respected Welsh National Orchestra of Wales trumpet player Rob Samuel will judge the junior and youth sections, whilst Dave Hayward is the entertaining and informative compere

After their successes at the National it is good to see appearances by newly crowned National champions, Tylorstown, Goodwick and Ebbw Valley in what promises to be a series of exciting domestic battles in each of the sections.

Wantage Silver Band

August 22 • Wantage Concert Brass (1st Section) are looking for a SOLO HORN and PERCUSSIONIST. Under the direction of our dynamic and inspiring MD Daniel Hall. This year we achieved 3rd at the L&SC regionals. We rehearse Tue & Fri 7:30pm- 9:30pm in our own bandhall

August 18 • Putney and Wimbledon Band are looking for a percussionist, ideally tune although the ability to play an anvil is an absolute must! We play exciting music with lots of percussion so there's plenty to keep you occupied.
