4BR has been informed that the Barnsley Chronicle Band have announced that they have changed their name to Barnsley Brass with immediate effect.

Band Chairman, Peter Webster told 4BR: "The band, formed in 1906 and based in Worsborough, serves the wider Barnsley community and has enjoyed official sponsorship and support from the Barnsley Chronicle newspaper since 2011.

Unfortunately this has now ceased, but the band would like to place on record it's appreciation for the support of the Chronicle during the last few years."

Seeking new support

He added that the band is now actively seeking new sponsorship, but continue to go from strength to strength. They will be competing at the forthcoming Bolsover Entertainment Contest as well as undertaking a packed Christmas programme.
