Matinee idols pack them in at Bolton

A first matinee performance from Smithills Senior Band packed them in at Bolton's Victoria Hall recently.

Smithills

Smithills School Senior Band under MD Chris Wormald recently provided an afternoon of musical entertainment for an audience of over 700 people at Bolton’s Victoria Hall.

First

It was the band’s first ever ‘matinee’ performance, and was deemed a great success as it catered for a cross section of those brass band lovers who do not like to travel home late at night and families with young children for whom evening events are too late.

The event also helped to raise much needed funds for their 2014 USA tour fund, and will be repeated again in Spring next year with a similar eclectic programme of music from Sinatra to ‘Toy Story’, Stravinsky to ‘Mary Poppins’.

The finale of the matinee concert saw over 120 Smithills players take to the stage – with the 52 members of the Senior Band joined by the 76 players of its Community Brass Band4BR
