US Open announces adjudication panel

Two experienced judges will sit in deliberation at the forthcoming US Open — with a bit of introductory help from Frank Renton

The organisers of the 2013 US Open Championship have announced details of the adjudicators for America’s premier entertainment event at the Norris Cultural Arts Center in St. Charles, Illinois on Saturday, November 2nd.

11th running

The 11th running of the competition is organised by Brass Bands International and hosted by the Prairie Brass Band in partnership with Buffet Group, and will be judged by Dr Paul Bauer and Raymond Tizzard.

Judges

Dr. Bauer holds a DM in trombone performance from Northwestern University and is the director of the School of Music at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and a past president of the Association of Illinois Music Schools.

Raymond Tizzard is a performer, administrator and arts activist, who holds a B.Mus and MM from the University of Western Ontario, followed by studies at the Banff School of Fine Arts.

He is currently the Orchestra Personnel Manage and Music Administrator of the National ballet of Canada with whom he performed from 1978 until 2010, as well as being a member of the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra.

He was the founder of the famous Hannaford Street Silver Band in Toronto where in addition to performing on cornet he became the Artistic Coordinator, subsequently becoming the Artistic Director and finally the General Director.

In a further announcement Frank Renton will once again return to the USA to compere the event.
