Carlton add to main strengths

Yorkshire champion adds further strength in depth to their Brass in Concert challenge.

Carlton Main in action

Yorkshire champion Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band has confirmed the signing of new players ahead of their appearance at the Brass in Concert Championship in Gateshead.

Cornet and horn

18 year old Charlotte Groves joins on 2nd cornet following the departure of Anthony Hall due to work commitments.

‘Lottie’ is a student at the Royal Northern College of Music studying under Richard Marshall and Roger Webster and made her contesting debut with the band at the National Finals in London recently. She previously played principal cornet with the Amington Band.

Meanwhile, following the departure of long serving horn player Steve Thompson, Sammy Latus has come in on first horn.

Sammy has enjoyed spells with the Barton Town as well as being a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain during her five years at the Royal Northern College of Music.

Now a music teacher with Oldham Music Service, Sammy has joined following a successful spell on solo horn with the York Railway Institute Band.

Everyone at Carlton Main is delighted that Sammy and Lottie have agreed to join us and we are confident that they will both be a great boost to the playing and spirit of 'Team Frickley'Carlton Main
