Cornish band welcome two new graduates to the ranks ahead of a busy 2014 contesting season.

St Dennis

The St Dennis Band has announced a number of new graduate signings ahead of what they hope will be a busy and successful contesting season.

RWCMD graduates

Jacob Pritchard returns on Eb Bass following a highly successful spell with British Open champion Tredegar.

The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama graduate is also developing a conducting career in Wales with the Cwmbran Band and will play with St Dennis at the forthcoming Yeovil Entertainment contest.

Welcome

Another RWCMD graduate, Richard Jones is a welcome addition to the cornet section. During his time in Wales, Richard played cornet with a number of Championship bands and as a professional trumpet player with leading orchestras. He is currently Head of Music at Penrice Community College.

Richard and Jacob are first class signings and shows our intent to push on to the next levelMD, Darren Hawken

First class signings

Professional Musical Director Darren Hawken told 4BR: "Richard and Jacob are first class signings and shows our intent to push on to the next level.

It has taken some time to identify and wait for the right players to strengthen the band and I'm delighted the fruits of our labours are finally paying off. This is a fantastic boost ahead of the busy contest season."
