North American line ups announced

The line up of bands that will compete in the North American Brass Band Championships in Grand Rapids next month has been confirmed.

The line up of competing bands and the own choice selections of music that will be featured at the forthcoming North American Brass Band Championships in Grand Rapids, Michigan has been announced.

The 17th running of the event, which will take place at the Devos Centre Concert Hall, is being billed as ‘Celebrate Gregson’, with major compositions from the doyen of brass band composers being utilised as set works in each competitive section.

4BR has been invited to fly over to report on the action on the weekend of Friday and Saturday, April 11th-12th, which will see a record numbers of participants along with Edward Gregson and his brother Bram adjudicating and receiving the President's Award for Outstanding Service to Brass Band Music.

Selections

Own choice selections to be performed at the event include contemporary works such as, ‘Audivi Media Nocte’, ‘Goldberg 2012’, ‘Fragile Oasis’ and ‘Myth Forest’ to classics such as ‘A Downland Suite’ and ‘Rhapsody in Brass’, as well as a further fine selection of Gregson favourites such as ‘Of Men and Mountains’, and ‘Of Distant Memories’.

There is also a huge field of solo and ensemble performers on show in categories that include: High Brass Slow Melody; High Brass Technical; Low Brass Slow Melody; Low Brass Technical; High Brass Slow Melody — Senior; High Brass Technical — Senior; Youth Brass Solo; Adult Percussion Solo; Youth Percussion Solo; Brass Ensemble; Youth Brass Ensemble; 10 Piece Brass; Percussion Ensemble and Youth Percussion Ensemble
