New principal takes the lead at Ireland

Karen Varley has become the new principal cornet at Ireland Colliery Chestefield Band.

Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Band has announced the signing of Karen Varley as their new principal cornet.

Karen joins from Pleasley Band, where she spent four years of fine music making and many contest successes.

MD Ian Knapton told 4BR: "It’s great to welcome Karen and she has really made a great impression in a short space of time. Karen has a fantastic sound and has really fitted in with her friendly approach."

Promotion

He added: "With this signing the band are now at full strength and we are all looking forward to finding out what we will have to perform at the National Finals when the announcement is made on 9th April and to our promotion to the First Section next year."
