Brass band music as enjoyable as pulling teeth

A great new community tie up between a council, brass band and a local dentist practice should keep everyone smiling....

East Riding celebrating

An innovative musical partnership between a dental practice and the local community will help support brass band concerts in a newly built bandstand in Hull.

Smiles

Smiles Dental Newell Pindar and Vivian, will sponsor the first brass band concert to be held in the new East Park Bandstand in East Hull, thanks to the involvement of dentist David Vivian who plays cornet with recently crowned North of England Third Section champion East Riding of Yorkshire (above).

David told 4BR: “I often take a stroll through East Park on my lunch break, so I was delighted to see the foundations of a bandstand appearing last summer."

Hull City Council has provided a splendid facility for live music and I was very keen that the East Riding of Yorkshire Band would be able to play thereDentist, David Vivian

Splendid facility

He added: "Hull City Council has provided a splendid facility for live music and I was very keen that the East Riding of Yorkshire Band would be able to play there.

The practice was very keen to support an event, so I’m delighted that we are able to utilise the bandstand with a traditional Sunday afternoon concert of musical entertainment.

We plan some refreshments, activities and giveaways for families and children, and our staff will be on hand to greet existing and prospective patients to check on their teeth too!"
