Boarshurst (Greenfield) Silver Band has announced that their highly successful partnership with Musical Director, David W Ashworth has come to an end.

Successful

During his six years at the helm, the band became one of the most successful lower section contesting outfits in the UK — winning numerous titles, including a brace of Butlins Mineworkers Championship titles and numerous Whit Friday local prizes, as well as gaining qualification to the 2011 National Finals in Cheltenham.

Band spokesperson, John Whittle, told 4BR: "In addition to his work with the band, David contributed a great deal of his time in helping to organise special events at Boarshurst Band Club, including a conducting course by Russell Gray, the popular annual Area Contest Preview Evening, beer festivals, and other social events, all of which contributed to the continued upkeep of the band’s headquarters in Greenfield."

All the best

He added: "On behalf of the players of Boarshurst Silver Band, the committee, and all at Boarshurst Band Club, we would like to wish David all the very best in his future musical ventures."

All good things come to an end but we part as friends and I wish the band all the best for the futureDavid W Ashworth

Time to move on

Meanwhile, David added: "I’ve had a fabulous time with the band, but there comes a time when you have to move on. All good things come to an end but we part as friends and I wish the band all the best for the future."
