A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a Rock in horse

Dr Richard Rock will be providing music for the 100,000 visitors to the new exhibition about King Richard III in Leicester.

Richard III

Dr Richard Rock, Arranger in Residence with the current North West Area champions Fairey, has been commissioned to write music for the new Richard III exhibition which opens in Leicester in July.

Remains

Following the rediscovery of the skeleton of one of the most famous and divisive monarchs in British history underneath a car park in Leicester in 2012, Richard III has returned centre stage to the national debate over where his remains should be re-interred.

It is hoped that the new exhibition, which has cost close to £4 million, will attract in excess of 100,000 visitors a year to the old Leicester Grammar School overlooking the site where the last King of the House of York was buried without pomp following his death at the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485.

Interactive

The visitor centre will include several large-scale projections and interactive features that will enable visitors to find out more about the monarch Shakespeare described as, ‘A man ill shaped, crooked backed, lame armed, valiantly minded, but tyrannous in authority’.

Large scale project

Richard Rock, who teamed up with friend and colleague Joe Stevenson for the project, told 4BR: “It's a pleasure to learn about such an important part of British history and be involved in such a large-scale exhibition.”
