London finalists Whitburn have announced the appointment of John Boax as their new Resident Conductor.

Wealth of experience

A spokesperson told 4BR: "John brings a wealth of experience to the position and is in fact renewing his relationship with us, having held the position during a successful period when the band was under the guidance of Major Peter Parkes."

John is a Brass instructor for Ayrshire Council and also conducts the Irvine & Dreghorn Band. He is also actively involved with a number of highly successful youth projects in the Ayrshire area and is
the Musical Director for the Reserve National Youth Brass Band of Scotland.

John will also continue his relationship as a playing member of the Dalmellington Band.

The energy and enthusiasm, along with his vast experience as a player and conductor makes John the perfect match for WhitburnBand Manager, Charlie Farren
