Did you know that you have to go back to 1979 for the last time a band drawn number 1 at the National Finals came in the top three?

Birmingham School of Music under Roy Curran gave a premiere contest performance of ‘Volcano’ that was only beaten on the day by Black Dyke and Cory — although the year before Besses o’th’ Barn went one better and came runner-up under Roy Newsome on ‘Checkmate.

June 11 • We are currently looking for a flugel horn player to help complete our team. We are a 4th section contesting band, with a busy schedule of contests and engagements coming up throughout the year.
