New, old and young add to Mount Charles ranks

A plethora of new signings help boost the Mount Charles ranks ahead of the forthcoming new contest season.

Mount Charles

After a highly successful concert season culminating in three sell out ‘Proms’ events to over 2,000 people at the famous Minack Theatre in Cornwall, Mount Charles Band has announced the signing of a host of new players.

Hannah Plumridge joins on assistant principal cornet from Roche Brass, whilst Adam Gore returns to the front row after a spell living in Scotland with Sam Baker coming in on third cornet from Launceston.

New and old and young

Matt Dixon has joined on solo euphonium from Aldbourne, a move that sees Jeremy Taylor move to Eb bass, whilst the band also welcomes back Nick Taylor and Louise Oliver on Bb tuba and second trombone, both from Bodmin Band.

Meanwhile, Tom Plumridge joins from Lympstone Band on percussion, with Kate Waller and Owen Thomas stepping up onto second horn and tuned percussion from the highly successful Mount Charles Youth Band.

Rewarding place

Mount Charles MD Simon Badge told 4BR: “The band has been a highly rewarding place to be over the last six months and we are now focussed on building up the strength of the band ahead of an exciting 2015 contest season.

The players here have always been dedicated in encouraging the youth element into the senior band and three young players are yet more evidence of their committed approach to promoting from within our own organisation.”
