Irish eyes smiling in Chesterfield

There will be plenty to celebrate this Christmas for Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Band as they look forward to a return to the First Section.

Ireland Colliery Chesterfield

Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Band will certainly be celebrating this Christmas following confirmation that they will be contesting in the First Section in 2015.

Finals

It is the band’s third successive promotion following their fourth consecutive appearance at the National Finals, and sees them return to the First Section (where they had played for 16 years) following a long and successful rebuilding battle that started after they had at one point dropped to just six players in rehearsal.

Success

A spokesperson told 4BR: “With success also comes some changes and we would like to thank players who have left having given great commitment to us, such as John Noon, Jeremy Newman, Paul Harding, Martin, Karen, Ellis, Lewis and Kelsey Squires.

All have been an integral part of the band’s recent success and we wish them all well for the future.”

Thanks

The band has also thanked Band Chairman and Secretary, Graham and Paula Weighill, who as non-players gave up a great deal of their valuable time to help secure their successful future, as well as announcing the signing of Gary Willis and Craig Bramford on euphonium and baritone.
