Model Morton gains Eikanger award

Principal cornet player Dave Morton is presented with Eikanger Bjorsvik's 'Role Model of the Year' award.

Morton Award

Eikanger Bjorsvik principal cornet player Dave Morton has been presented with the Norwegian national champion’s ‘Role Model of the Year’ accolade at their recent awards evening dinner.

Voted

This annual award is voted for by band members and went to the Geneva Instrument artist, who has occupied the principal cornet seat since June 2014.

A spokesperson told 4BR: “Dave has not only impressed fellow members by his wonderful playing, but also by the professional leadership qualities he has brought to the band. He has been an inspiring and motivating leader who has brought out the best in other band members.”

Repay faith

David told 4BR: “Of course I am absolutely delighted to be presented with the award. To be recognised by your own peers is the best possible feedback, and I hope I can continue to repay the faith they have given me.

The band is in great form and has had a fantastic autumn. Everyone is excited and motivated as we look forward to defending our National title in Bergen.”
