Delegates enjoy being under the Cosh at latest mid winter workshop

Over 100 musicians have enjoyed the latest mid winter workshop organised by the South West Brass Band Association and lead by Paul Cosh and friends.

Over 100 brass musicians aged 11 to 70 plus, enjoyed a great weekend of music making at the recent 17th Mid-Winter Brass Workshop, organised by the South West Brass Band Association.

Repertoire and concert

Held at the West Buckland School, North Devon, it was led by tutors Paul Cosh, Chris Davis and Chris Jeans, with the delegates enjoying repertoire from the pens of Paul Lovatt-Cooper, Alan Fernie, Jonathan Bates, Leigh Baker, Dave Collins, Philip Harper and Christopher Bond. The event was rounded off with a highly enjoyable concert.

Awards

Association President, Sue Richards, presented the Goff Richards’ Memorial Awards to sisters, Alina Nuta, for her leadership and excellent solo playing, and Cathryn Nuta as the most improved player.

As one delegate told 4BR: “The choice of tutors was superb, the music was great and I enjoyed every minute of it.”

SWBBA Secretary Brian Elliott added: “The SWBBA Executive wish to thank Arts Council England, Taw & Torridge Coaches and Westcott & Son Co-operative Funeralcare, for their support, and to inform everyone that the Association continues its Education and Training Programme with a Trombone Workshop on Saturday 21st November 2015.”
